Lynne recently re-recorded "Don't Bring Me Down". This solo version is
used in the commercial for Budweiser's Select 55 beer. It was already
used in the
movie "College Road Trip" and the TV series "My Name Is Earl". The extracts are on the
"Films" pages of my website.

DEL SHANNON - COMPILATION
A new compilation of Del
Shannon was released on 26 January. "Runaway - The Very Best Of" contains the hard to find "Cry Baby Cry" (co-written by Jeff Lynne in 1975)
and "Walk Away" (co-written and produced by Jeff Lynne in 1989).
It also contains the original versions of "Runaway" and "Little Town
Flirt" later covered by Jeff Lynne.

attended the "2010
MusiCares" with his friend Joe Walsh on 29 January.
This charity event
is
intended to help musicians in need. The
party was a tribute to Neil Young and took place at the Los Angeles
Convention Center.

wanted to go on a ship tour with the Traveling Wilburys. He shared his
idea with Tom Petty: "He said, we should get a ship, just sail
around. We could pull into a
cove and play to guys in outrigger canoes. And we'll call it the
Sponsor Ship. We'll paint a different corporate logo on it every day.
That'll pay for the trip. He was so funny". But
Tom Petty admits it might have been the only way Harrison would have
agreed to tour. "His biggest problem was the machinery of managers and
booking agents. He said to me once, I can't face
waking up in Philadelphia and having to go to the soundcheck."

Electric
guitar manufaturer Gibson has named the Traveling Wilburys as the best
classic rock supergroup. It described their debut album as "flawless"
and commended it for showcasing the talents of each individual band
member. The firm
added that the record was "teeming with perfectly crafted
pop singles" and sold extremely well.
