Brooks created a coloring book dedicated to Jeff
Lynne. It was done in extremely limited copies. Each page is a
reference to an ELO song ("Ticket To The Moon", "Showdown"...). You can

the occasion of the re-issue of the first albums of the move and one of
his first solo albums, Roy Wood is giving a lot of interviews
at the
moment. He
therefore happens to recall his contribution to ELO and his
relationship with Jeff Lynne.Here are a few passages
extracted from
the BBC, Mojo and Sunday Express.

When
you split the Move in April '72 you'd already formed ELO. What did you
set out to achieve?
I
had the idea of doing ELO during the first Move album. There were three
or so tracks where the string arrangements were done by Tony Visconti.
When I heard the orchestra playing the songs I'd written in the bedroom
I thought: bloody hell! Wouldn't it be great to re-create this on
stage? Not just us with a few session players, but have a proper
orchestra as your group. Jeff [Lynne] and I
became friends, we used to
go and watch Birmingham City and
do that pub thing
afterwards. After Carl Wayne left [in 1970] we
got Jeff to join the Move.
He agreed to do that if we
could also do ELO. I wanted to do that anyway. We still
did two Move studio albums, including "Message From The Country"
(October, 71),where Jeff and I experimented a
lot. By
August '72 you'd left ELO and formed Wizzard. A hasty exit... There
was a lot of stuff going
on management-wise that I didn't agree with. Jeff and I never fell out
but It was pointless me starting another ELO-type group so I tried to
do something different.(Mojo)

Jeff [Lynne] et moi étions devenus amis, nous avions
l'habitude
d'aller voir les matchs de Birmingham City puis d'aller au pub.
Après le
départ de Carl Wayne [en 1970], Jeff a rejoint les Move. Il
était d'accord à la condition que nous puissions
également faire ELO. C'est de toute façon ce que
je
voulais. Nous avons donc enregistré 2 albums
supplémentaires des Move, dont "Message
From The Country" (octobre 71)sur lequel Jeff et moi
expérimentions énormément. Tout ce termine en
août '72, vous quittez ELO et formez Wizzard. Un
départ rapide...
Concernant
le management, j'étais en désaccord avec un tas
de
choses. Jeff et moi ne nous sommes jamais disputés mais il
était inutile pour moi de commencer un nouveau
groupe comme
ELO alors j'ai tenté autre chose. (Mojo)
"Jeff
and I put a load of guitar licks on this tune he'd got and I'd just
bought myself a cheap Chinese cello. I was messing around with it in
the studio. I wanted it to sound like "I am the Walrus". Jeff Lynne
said: that's sounds all right, let's put a few of those on. We ended on
putting about 15 on there and it sounded like a heavy metal orchestra.
That was "10538 Overture". It was a good story to try and stir up that
Jeff and I had had
a big fallout but we never did. We're still great friends. Arden (ELO
manager) thought he could earn more money out of me and Jeff being in
separate bands. It wasn't through my own choosing that I left and I'm
sorry to this day that it happened that way." (Sunday Express)

Del
Shannon's 1991 posthumous "Rock On!" album will be reissued on 03
September. Jeff Lynne had produced it and played some instruments. The
new re-issue includes 3 b-sides, an unreleased
track and a demo.

The
musical "OthE.L.O." première took place on 1st
August in the United-States. The show is a parody of
Shakespeare's Othello and uses some ELO's
titles.

parodie
d'Othello de Shakespeare et utilise des titres d'ELO.
"I
don't want people turning up to these shows expecting me to be on stage
because they're going to be disappointed.
When
The Move disbanded in 1972
we
were at No 10 in the charts with California Man and I thought that was
a good place to leave it. This
version of The Move has not got my blessing, to me they will never be
more than a tribute band. I will never work with Bev Bevan again." To which Bev answers: "It's a
difficult one. I do not know why he is upset because Trevor and myself
are both original members of the Move. If
he had taken the time to look at a poster, he would see we are calling
ourselves The Move, featuring Trevor Burton and Bev Bevan. I did ask
him to be part of it, but he didn't want to. That's his decision. It
has the 100 per cent backing of Carl Wayne's widow, Sue, and if Ace
Kefford had been fit, he would have been part of it too. I am genuinely
disappointed that he is not happy with the situation."
That
probably puts a definite
end to all hopes of seeing the three original members of Electric
Light Orchestra ever
reunited (Roy
Wood,
Bev Bevan et
Jeff Lynne)...

un sujet difficile. Je ne sais pas pourquoi il est vexé car
Trevor et moi sommes tous deux des membres originels des Move. En
prenant le temps de regarder l'affiche, il aurait vu que nous
appelons nous-même les Move avec Trevor Burton et Bev Bevan.
Je
lui avais demandé de nous rejoindre mais il ne le souhaitais
pas. C'est sa décision. Le
projet a le soutien total de la veuve de
Carl Wayne, Sue, et si Ace Kefford avait été en
bonne santé, il en
ferait partie également. Je suis sincèrement
déçu qu'il ne soit pas content
de la situation."
Cela
met donc sans doute un terme définitif à tout
espoir de voir un jour se réunir à
nouveau les 3
membres fondateurs d'Electric Light Orchestra (Roy Wood, Bev Bevan et
Jeff Lynne)...

20th November, Rhino
is to release a vinyl box set and second edition
deluxe sets of "The Traveling Wilburys collection".
The
remastered and expanded collectible package features unreleased bonus
tracks and bonus DVD featuring a 24-minute documentary including unseen
footage of the Wilburys. The vinyl edition includes a 12-inch
featuring"Handle With Care"
and "End Of The Line" in extended version as well as a previously
unreleased version of
"Not Alone Anymore" plus a collectible album-sized book, additional
vintage postcards and posters.

(and he was also the founder of their label "Jet Records").

remaster) will be produced in a limited run of 2500 copies for the UK.

Orchestra's members Mik Kaminski and Mike De Albuquerque. They
released 2 albums: "No Cause For Alarm" in 1979 and "Stop Cloning
About" in 1980. A "Best Of" compilation including rarities wil be
available on 28 May.

Tom
Petty and his band the Heartbreakers will be the
subject of a documentary by Peter Bogdanovich, which is expected to be
released on DVD before the end of the year. The
making of the picture coincides with the 30th anniversary of the band.
Bogdanovich began the documentary late 2005.
Jeff Lynne will appear several times in the documentary (in studio, on
stage...).
Besides,
Tom Petty's 2006 release
"Highway Companion" will be reissued in
expanded form on 5th June. The set will
feature demos of the album tracks "This Old Town" and "Big Weekend,"
plus
the unreleased cuts "Home" and "Around The Roses". The CD
packaging will also include 2 postcards.
Tom
Petty et son groupe les Heartbreakers seront
